PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly restore the state of a surface of a fixing member to suppress an abnormal image.SOLUTION: A fixing device 20 comprises: a fixing belt 24 that is heated by a heater 25 and a pressure roller 23 that is arranged to be capable of pressing at least a part of the fixing belt 24 to form a nip part with the fixing belt 24, the fixing device conveying a recording medium P carrying an unfixed toner image T to the nip part to fix the unfixed toner image T on the recording medium P. The fixing device includes a rubbing member 30 that rubs the surface of the fixing belt 24, and control means 35 that causes, after a predetermined condition is satisfied, the rubbing member 30 to execute a first rubbing operation over a predetermined period; in addition to the first rubbing operation, the control means 35 causes the rubbing member to execute a second rubbing operation over a period equal to or shorter than the predetermined period at a timing earlier than the time when the predetermined condition is satisfied.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
