A product discharge device (20a) is provided with a lower pedal (28) and an upper pedal (29) which advance into and retreat from a product storage passageway (13), wherein when the product discharge device (20a) is in a standby state, the upper pedal (29) is caused to retreat and the lower pedal (28) is caused to advance so that the lower pedal (28) assumes a first standby attitude and thereby blocks products from moving downward, whereas when the product discharge device (20a) is activated, the upper pedal (29) is caused to advance and the lower pedal (28) is caused to retreat so that the lowermost product is discharged downward. When the product discharge device (20a) is in the standby state, if no product is placed on the upper surface of the lower pedal (28), the lower pedal (28) assumes a second standby attitude in which the tip of the lower pedal (28) is at a higher elevation than when the lower pedal (28) is in the first standby attitude. The product discharge device (20a) is further provided with out-of-stock detection switches (26, 27) which assume one state when the lower pedal (28) is in the first standby attitude and assume another state when the lower pedal (28) is in the second standby attitude, so as to allow detection of the presence or absence of a product in the product storage passageway (13). |
