A flame arrester and a method of integrating a bore to the flame arrestor are provided to fix two wound metal strips in position without deforming the fluting on a second metal strip by closing off two lateral sides of the wound metal strips by retaining plates and integrating the bore from outer periphery towards inside in a radial direction by a spark erosion electrode. In a flame arrestor comprised of two metal strips, a method of integrating a radially disposed bore for fixing a pin includes winding the two metal strips together to form a disk having a circular outer circumference. The first metal strip is a smooth strip, and the second metal strip is a fluted strip having predetermined fluting on the surface. The two metal strips are arranged to bear against one another, forming predetermined gaps allowing the liquid to flow through. The flame arrester has two lateral sides in a direction of an axis completely closed off by retaining plates(5). The two metal strips are fixed in position by a fixing pin inserted into a radial bore(6). The bore is integrated by spark erosion electrode without deforming the flutes on the second metal strip, and allows the gaps to be formed in the bore regions as well by the fluting on the second metal strip. |
