PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions of zeolite imidazolate frameworks having the framework type SOD (short for sodalite), methods for making the same, and gas adsorption methods using the same.SOLUTION: A method comprises: mixing together a reaction medium, a source of an imidazolate or a substituted imidazolate reactant (IM), and a reactant source of metals Mand M, where Mand Mcomprise the same or different metal cations, at least one of the reactants being relatively insoluble in the reaction medium; and forming a zeolitic imidazolate framework composition by using the mixture. Also provided are a material made by the method, designated either as EMM-19 or as EMM-19, and a method of using the same to adsorb and/or separate gases, such as carbon dioxide.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 26 |
