<p>A mixer for two or pref. three different matls. has a hollow rotating shaft carrying discs, spaced one above the other, on to which the components of the mixt. are fed separately by pipes passing through the hollow shaft. The components are thrown off the discs by centrifugal force on to the wall of a rotating cone shaped drum where they are thoroughly mixed by friction and shearing, thrown in to the body of the mixer and discharged by an outlet at the bottom. The wall of the drum may have a removable plastic lining. The mixer is partic. suitable for mixing sand, resin and catalyst to form a rapidly setting mixt. for foundry moulds. The matls. are kept separate from one another until the mixt. is required when they are thoroughly mixed and charged to the mould immediately.</p> |
