Rotatable vacuum remover for lathe swarf - has centrifugal air pump to suck swarf into hollow machine spindle

A hollow workpiece is held in a three jaw chuck and swaf from the workpiece is sucked into the hollow driving spindle for the chuck from which they are collected at the other side of the driving device for the chuck. Section of the swarf is achieved by a radial inflow centrifugal compressor made in three sectors, one of which is situated between each adjacent pairs of chuck jaws. The sectors have peripheral forward facing scoops which pass air radially inwards and subsequently axially rearwards, through the driving spindle. An ejector effect causes air to enter the spindle through the workpiece, sucking the swarf with it.
