Safety boot with ankle protection - has extra quick-release fastener with pull-out rod for emergencies

The safety shoe is designed to extend above the ankle and is done up by the usual strong laces looped through eyelets, and/or hooks, but in the event of an accident it is some time before the shoe can be undone and removed. For this purpose the side of the boot is provided with a quick-release connection which comprises a seris of loops arranged in interfitting hinge fashion down the leg of the boot on one side and on the detachable lace fastening strip on the other. These loops are held together by a connecting cable or rod which has a handle or tab at the top so that it can easily be pulled-out to open the boot.
