<p>Fluorinated ethers, esp. new (perfluoroisopropoxy)n-hexane and di(perfluoroisopropoxy)-1,4-butane, are prepd. by reacting organic halide, pref. of formula RX where X = Cl, Br, I and R = alkyl possibly substd. by keto, nitro, nitroso, sulphone, sulphoxide or phosphine oxide, with oxygenated complex of a silver perfluoride, prepd. by passing dry air or O2 into soln. of silver compd. esp. silver perfluoroisopropane, in polar aprotic solvent, pref. acetonitrile, dimethylformamide, dimethylsulphoxide of hexamethyl phosphotriamide, reaction being carried out at close to 25 degrees C in such a solvent. Oxygenated silver complex is more stable than previously used acetone perfluoride and process gives wide range of prods.</p> |
