PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fabric detection device for a sewing machine which can accurately detect the presence or absence of a fabric even in the case of sewing a fabric having relatively large voids, such as a mesh fabric and a lace fabric.SOLUTION: A fabric detection device B is mainly constituted by a sensor 6 and a control section 7. When a pulse signal Pm output from an encoder 9 built in a motor 2 is input to a determination section of the control section 7, a light-receiving or light-shielding signal of a light-receiving section 6b of the sensor 6 is fed back to a determination section 8. In the determination section 8, when it is determined that a fabric is absent in every one of a prescribed multiple number of consecutive determinations on the presence or absence of the fabric, the determination section 8 determines that "the fabric has passed".SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
