Adjustable tether line for loose ski - has safety hook to prevent accidental disconnection of line

The safety line on a ski fixture consists of a ribbon, an adjustable hook plate and a ring attached to the actual line. One end of the ribbon is anchored whilst the free end passes through slots in the hook plate. The hook is U-shaped and has a narrow gap near its open end. At this position a rectangular window in the hook plate is covered by the ribbon. When the ring is put on the hook or is removed from it, the ribbon has to be displaced by the ring on passing, thus accidental unhooking is prevented. The hook plate position on the ribbon determines the total length of the safety line.
