1405464 Delivering sheets R A JONES & CO Inc 3 Aug 1972 [23 Sept 197]] 36349/72 Heading B8R Carton blanks 11 are fed along a conveyer belt 14 to be stacked in a receptacle 30 with a side portion 13 of each blank extending laterally beyond the belt, so as to pass through two nips, one nip 19 comprising a freely rotatable disc 21 with a rubber peripheral surface 27 co-operating with the belt 14 where supported by a drive roller on a motor-driven drive shaft 16 so as to maintain an inner portion 35 of the blank in motion at the speed of the belt, and the other nip 20 comprising a driven disc 24 fixed to a motor driven shaft 22, on which the disc 21 is freely retardable, co-operating with a disc 23 freely rotatable on the shaft 16, the nip 20 being located laterally outside the belt 14 and the disc 24 being driven faster than the belt (e.g. 40- 50% faster) so as to move the portion 13 of the blank faster than the portion 35, whereby to rotate the blank through 90 degrees in its own plane before it is deposited in the receptacle. The disc 21 is axially adjustable along the shaft 22. |
