The parent patent described a process for the continuous prodn. of spacers for thermally isolating with synthetic foam, coaxial tube systems consisting of at least two concentric corrugated tubes for transporting fluid or gaseous, heated or cooled media, in which the expandable mixt. of synthetic matl. is delivered on to a "U"-shaped carrier band, allowed to expand freely at right angles to the carrier, and simultaneously any foam projecting beyond the reqd. height of the spacers, is skimmed off. In this addn. the continuously moving paper carrier tape is provided first of all, on its surface turned away from the foam, with a reinforcing strip, and is then folded in a "V" with its legs subtending an angle of more than 90 degrees to the base. The legs are then closed in to an angle of less than 90 degrees so that the tape kinks sharply, and finally the "U" profile is calibrated exactly.
