The trough consists basically of galvanised sheet metal bent into a U-section channel (2), the uprights (3) being inclined inwards to avoid food losses. The upper edge of each side is first bent inwards, and then outwards to form a narrow U-section which slides over a support plate on the side of one of two opposite cages. The bottom of the trough is bent into a ridge, again with a U-section, which serves as a guide rail for the wheels of a food hoppeR.
