<p>This cartridge fuse has a hollow, cylindrical and insulating body (3) which is sealed at either end by contact caps. Fitting inside that body, or integral with it, is a tube (8) with a honey-comb of longitudinal air-spaces. A cylindrical hole is left in the centre which carries the fusible link (1) that has a hollow profile with the same radius as the hole. When the fuse ruptures, the cell walls, which can be made from glass, plastic, etc., shatter and allow for the progressive expansion of gas. This overcomes the difficulties of sand filling such as dryness, compacting and slow filling.</p> |
