The wedge-action catch-lock for car doors, is of the type employing a male tenon sliding into a female counterpart. It is designed for fabrication simplicity, is applicable to tenons of limited projection and obtains a relatively quiet operation. Male and female fittings locate on respective closure abutting mobile (M) and static (B) elements, and comprise basically a horizontal male plate tenon (9) sliding into female slotted (2) vertical and housed (5) plate (1). This latter is able to rotate about a horizontal axis sited above and vertically coincident with the projecting male centroid to effect a wedge-locking of the male in the female slot. A spring (6) and fulcrum (F) pref. maintain the female in the locked station. Steel plates form the main components (9) (1) with plastic linings to the wedging faces.
|
