An apparatus for storage and discharge of flowable solid materials such as powders, granules and grains in which flowable solid materials which have been stored in a storage tank can be discharged outside smoothly and completely at a prescribed constant rate regardless of kinds of flowable solid materials stored and such conditions as temperature and humidity are disclosed. This apparatus comprises a storage tank having in the upper portion thereof a space for storing flowable solid materials and in the lower portion thereof a zone for discharging flowable solid materials. A discharge mechanism is disposed in the interior of the storage tank, and the discharge mechanism includes a drive shaft disposed in the upper portion of the storage tank in the axial direction of the tank, an end member mounted rotatably on said discharge zone of the storage tank in a bearing mechanism and a spiral spring member. One end of the spring member is fitted to the drive shaft and the other end extends to the end member. The discharge mechanism is so constructed that when said drive shaft is rotated, said spring member is rotated by rotation of said drive shaft and concurrently is revolved along the inner wall of the storage tank.
