1463370 Finishing fabrics STOTZ & CO AG 13 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 53993/74 Heading D1S A textile fabric of inherently uniform stiffness has areas of reduced stiffness formed by external action. The fabric may be woven, knitted or non-woven or a laminate of two more layers and may be dyed, rendered dirt- or water-repellent, crease resistant or fire resistant. The uniform stiffness may have been achieved by impregnation with a stiffening material or with cross-linkable polymer and subsequent cross-linking, by coating, by the use of threads or fibres of stiffness greater than that of other components of the fabric, or by joining together of two fabrics by an adhesive. At the areas of reduced stiffness the fabric may have a diminished sheet weight or a diminished thickness. The areas of reduced stiffness may be produced by severing threads or fibres, chemical decomposition, grinding, milling, brushing, abrading, sand blasting, embossing, squeezing, cutting, pricking, boring, or electroerosion or by treatment with ultrasonic sound, a laser beam, radiation from radio-active materials, ultraviolet radiation, infra red radiation, microwaves, a plasma beam or heat. Chemical decomposition may be effected by treatment with a gas, a liquid-or a mixture thereof. Heat treatment may be effected by blowing, compressing or sucking a hot gas or a hot liquid, or a mixture thereof, through the fabric. |
