The tongue contact is intended for a channel wall of a vertical transport system with destination selection and is of the type in which a transport bin is transported through the channel using a magnet slideable on a wall parallel to the channel wall, whereby by teh magnet is sensed by tongued contacts to control the bath of the bin and screen means are provided on both sides of the contact parallel to its sides so as to limit the field of action of a passing magnet. Each of the screening plates consists of two superimposed weak iron plates (3, 4 and 5, 6). The plates (4, 6) away from the magnets have a high initial permeability and the plates (3, 5) facing the magnets a high saturation induction.
