<p>The front of the driving mirror is fitted with a fluid crystal (20) interposed between polarising filters (26, 29) and connected to a control circuit. To dim the mirror a supply voltage is applied to the plates of the fluid crystal. Either a manual or automatic control can be fitted. The automatic control has a light sensor (38) near the front of the mirror to detect the headlights of following vehicles, and to dim the mirror. The driver does not have to adjust the mirror setting, thus maintaining driving concentration without any danger of disturbing the mirror.</p> |
