METHOD AND DEVICE FOR WASHING PRINT HEAD OF INK JET PRINTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print head washing device which removes purged ink having a special characteristic making removal of ink difficult.SOLUTION: An ink jet printer is configured to purge a print head in the printer and remove the purged ink from the print head. The ink jet printer includes a purge tray which is constituted together with a wiper for removing most of the purged ink from the surface of the print head without contacting the print head. A wiper module rotates the wiper so as to pass through a reservoir of washing liquid before contacting the print head so as to facilitate removal of the remaining purged ink from the print head when the print head returns to the printing position over the wiper module.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
