An electrolytic cell consists of electrodes of alternate polarity spaced along a central insulating tube. The assembly is contained in a gas-tight vessel which is provided with an outlet tube. The electrodes are disc shaped and are perforated. The central tube is fitted with a compressed air connector outside the vessel and is provided with a gas-dispersing palte at the lower end. A gas outlet is fitted to the top of the vessel. A heater for the electrolyte may be fitted.
