Process for the preparation of basic oxazine dyestuffs by nitrosation of aminophenol ethers <IMAGE> wherein R1 denotes hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl or alkenyl, R2 denotes optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl, R3 denotes hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy, R9 denotes hydrogen or alkyl and N DENOTES 1, 2 OR 2, AND CONDENSATION WITH PHENOLS <IMAGE> wherein R4 denotes hydrogen or the group <IMAGE> R5 denotes hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy, R6 denotes hydrogen or, conjointly with R5, denotes an aromatic radical, R7 denotes hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl or alkenyl, and R8 denotes hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl.
