The safety arrangement are used on sailing craft with unstayed, universal-joint mounted rig, partic. sailboards. They effect normal and emergency situations, with minimal loss of mobility. They comprise hooked and looped materials acting in combination, the former secured to - pref. integrated into- the standing surface - pref. important parts only - of the board and the latter forming the rider shoe sole, pref. only partially. Alternatively, a pattern of rigid or flexible pegs is fixed to the deck of the surfboard and the shoe soles are equipped with projections designed to ensure positive engagement with these.
