The system cools compacted fodder such as straw etc. after the compression operation. The hot compacted fodder (KW) passes continuously through a cooler (1), divided into idle (2) and cooling (3) segments. As it passes through the latter, cooling air (LU) flows round it, travelling in the same, the opposite or the transverse direction or in a combination of them under the action of a suction or blower fan (4). The cooled and compacted fodder is then delivered by conveyor (5) into silos (6) for storage.
