<p>A circular saw blade (2) is mounted on a frame (1) which carries a splitting wedge (3). A brake (5) is fixed to a bracket (4) which is bolted to the splitting wedge (3). The brake has two shoes, one on each side of the saw blade, which are mounted on pivoted arms. The brake shoes are normally pressed against the blade (2) by a tension spring. A solenoid (11), which is energised when the motor is switched on, applies a force to the Bowden cable (12) which overcomes the spring force and releases the brake. Mounting the brake on the splitting wedge (3) protects it from the sawdust.</p> |
