Transducer cores have a small air gap to limit d.c. saturation. Non-magnetic round wire (22) is used as the mechanical means for setting the gap between opposite pole faces (11, 12) of the core. A typical material is copper or copper alloy. Sheet insulation material is obviated with which repeatable dimensions cannot be guaranteed, and which may delaminate in service. Typically the wire is held in the gap with a resin sticker (13) and filler. Surplus resin is pressed away (C) from the wire as the core faces (11, 12) are brought together, and thus does not give rise to gap irregularities.
|
