The mat made from mineral fibres aligned horizontally, is secured by stitching at right angles to these fibres (1). The lines of stitches (6,7) can be inserted alternately in opposite directions from opposite sides (4,5). In another form, a thinner layer in the form of a fleece or another set of fibres can be mounted on top. This can be secured to the layer below by lines of vertical stitches extending from top to bottom. Over the junction surface between the two layers is secured a foil layer which is secured by the stitches passing through.
