Liq. droplet formation on lancet tip - uses cooling device to solidify droplet, followed by application of hardening protective layer

The lancet (2) used for vaccination etc., has a fluid droplet (3) attached to its pointed tip by immersion in the liquid, or by transferring liquid by a droplet tube, or by spraying. The droplet is solidified by inserting the pointed tip with the droplet attached into a cold atmosphere, e.g. by using a cooling sleeve. The droplet is then given a protective coating by rotating and oscillating it adjacent to a nozzle (8) which sprays the coating substance (9) over its surface. The stem of the lancet can also be enclosed by a plastics layer terminating just above the pointed tip, and the protective coating on the droplet can overlap the bottom of the plastics layer. Instead of using the spray nozzle, the solidified droplet can be dipped into a liquid which then hardens as a lacquer or plastics coating. An electrostatic field may be also used.
