Desalination of water by crystallisation of ice - using air conditioner for cooling

Desalination of sea water or aq. solns. (e.g. waste water from a distn. unit) is carried out by freezing the water and separating the ice crystals, with the improvement that the cooling capacity of an air conditioning unit is utilised for freezing the water.
