<p>Method of making chipboard permits reduced amts. of binder to be used, resulting in a stronger prod. Round timber is used, which is cut by a special machine in which the wood is held hydraulically against a cutting table, and cut along the grain. The cutter produces chips which are 0.002 mm thick, which are then dried to a humidity content of between 2 and 4 wt.%. They are then dusted with the binding medium in a drum under high pressure, and then formed into a cake which is pressed in the conventional manner.</p> |
