The invention relates to a process for making objects from conifer bark or other wood waste and ashes. In the process according to the invention, heat and a pressure above the atmospheric value are used to change the consistency of the starting material. Ashes 4 are added to the bark or wood waste, and the ashes fill the open pores of the wood material when subjected to a high temperature and to excess pressure in the pressurized chamber of an oven 5. The product obtained is partly cooled, and a measured amount of ashes, enriched with nitrogen compounds in an aqueous solution, is added 7.
