The rotary drum drive, typically for a tubular furnace, comprises a peripheral gear ring with a concentric inner face for the two or more rollers of a pinion truck, the pinion of which drives the gear ring, while a torque arm hinges at opposite ends on the truck and the foundation. The torque arm is tangental to the gear teeth pitch circle and at right angles to the pinion axis, while the pinion is in turn driven by a layshaft parallel to it in the truck, from one end of the layshaft. On the other end of the layshaft (12) is a crown wheel (15), meshing with a bevel pinion (16) running in a bearing (17) on the truck (3). The bevel pinion stubshaft (18) protrudes at the side towards the torque arm (26) and is coupled by a flexible propeller shaft (19) to the driving motor (23). Motor and arm are secured to the same foundation (29).
|
