The fixture (3) is intended for mounting a measuring device for determining the relative position of two components, such as the slide carriage (9) of a machine tool relative to the bed (11). It comprises a graduated scale (12) on a carrier (1) fixed to one component (9) and a pointer (6), which is guided along the scale at a constant distance from it, and is held by a support (2) secured to the other component. This support remains in position during transport and mounting. The fixture is longitudinally slidable relative to the carrier and can be clamped (7) thereto. It is aligned relative to the carrier e.g. via corresponding projections and recesses.
