A hand-held pocket projector for microslides or filmstrips is disclosed. The projector comprises a casing made up of two circular parts 1 and 2 and a tubular member 3 which fits into cooperating openings provided in the circular parts. The tubular member houses the optical system made up of a battery-powered lamp, objective and optional condensers. A switch 7 controls the power supply. Inside the casing, an annular track is provided for guiding an endless or circular filmstrip past a toothed wheel or sprocket 9 which is manually operated to advance the filmstrip.
