PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge device that can achieve appropriate purge processing responding to viscosity of liquid to be discharged from a nozzle.SOLUTION: The liquid discharge device comprises: a cartridge attachment portion which has a connected part to be connected to a supply part of a cartridge when attaching the cartridge thereto; a discharge head having a nozzle for discharging liquid; a flow path extending from the connected part to the nozzle; a purge mechanism which performs purge processing; and a purge control portion that sets amounts of purge to be exhausted by the purge processing, according to time elapsed after the cartridge is exchanged. The purge control portion, when the cartridge is exchanged, executes, on the basis of information relating to quantities of liquid to be exhausted from the nozzle after the nozzle is exchanged, remaining amount acquisition processing for acquiring remaining amounts of liquid, remaining in the flow path, supplied from the cartridge which is not exchanged and reset processing for resetting amounts of purge corresponding to the cartridge which is not exchanged to amounts of purge corresponding to a cartridge which is exchanged for the old cartridge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
