In a level sensor for a motor vehicle tank with a plastic carrier which can be inserted into a tank opening and with a valve for ventilating or venting or closing the fuel tank, the valve cover is formed integrally on the plastic carrier and the valve base is secured detachably on the plastic carrier. In relation to known designs, the assembly of the valve inter alia is simplified.
