The invention concerns a process of joining plastics having high melt viscosities e.g. for producing sealing rings, especially for ball valves, from extruded semi-product. According to this process the ends of the semi-product to be connected are non-detachably connected by applying a temperature of 200 to 400 DEG C and a pressure at least 0,1 MPa or optionally using a fusible connecting intermediate layer.
