The circuit charges a signal storage device linearly during one phase of the fixed duty ratio pulse train. A transistor discharges the storage device linearly during the other phase of the pulse train. The ratio of the charging rate to the discharging rate is equal to the ratio of the transducer cycle duration to the duration of one phase. Transistors sense the content of the storage device and cause the coil current to commence a predetermined time interval before the beginning of the other phase of the pulse train. The circuit provides a constant dwell in the medium speed range and regulates the coil current. Pref. the storage device is a capacitor which is charged and discharged by constant current sources.
