Use of a multi-layer film of plastic as circumferential sheathing layer for plastic pipes carrying hot water

The invention relates to the use of a multi-layer film of plastic having an inner-lying gas-diffusion barrier layer and respectively outer-lying polymer layers as circumferential sheathing layer for plastic pipes carrying hot water. In this case, the thicknesses of the outer polymer layers together correspond to at least the thickness of the gas-diffusion barrier layer. The gas-diffusion barrier layer may consist of appropriate plastics, such as polyamide, polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl alcohol or a laminate of such plastics. The outer-lying polymer protective layers may consist of polyethylene.
