In a motor-adjustable vehicle seat, a drive unit (5) can be displaced in relation to a baseplate (1) connected to the vehicle seat. Locking bolts (11) which are mounted on the baseplate (1) and are under spring pretensioning are held in the position of rest by means of stops (15) which are connected to the drive unit (5). If the drive unit (5) is moved in relation to the baseplate (1) as a result of decelerations or accelerations, the stops (15) release the locking bolts (11). The locking bolts (11) enter locking recesses (13) in the region of lateral guide rails (4) of the vehicle seat and bring about locking. <IMAGE>
