1395687 Polythio - diglycols THIOKOL CORP 11 May 1973 [12 May 1972] 22684/73 Heading C2C Polythio-diglycols are prepared by reacting 1,2-alkylene, 1,2-cycloalkylene or 1,2-aralkylene oxides or substitution products thereof with a semimolar proportion of H 2 S and at least a semigram atom of sulphur in the presence of a solvent which is either water or the desired reaction product at a temperature above 40‹ C. and in the absence of any basic catalyst, e.g. according to the reaction scheme x is generally between 1 and 6, predominantly 2À0 to 2-5. Ethylene oxide, styrene oxide, epichlorhydrin and cyclohexene oxide are used in the examples and other oxides are specified. The products are used as plasticizers and oil and gasoline additives. |
