An improved logarithmic converter apparatus (100) for analog to digital to analog or both types of conversion including a logarithmic gain controlling network (120) which has stages (222-292) controlled to produce a unity gain or a fixed nonunity gain. Preferably, the stages of the logarithmic gain controlling network are controlled by a plurality of digital input signals and include a plurality of gain controlling stages, connected in series with the gain of each stage being the square or the square root of the gain of the preceding stage. |
