In this circuit arrangement, the audio-frequency signal is divided in a filter circuit (13) which exhibits a number of band-pass filters with adjoining pass-band filter ranges (13-1 to 13-5), into component signals which are supplied to loudspeakers (25, 26, 27) tuned to the respective frequency range. Level-determining circuits (31-1 to 31-3) are provided which separately determine the levels of at least some (13-2 to 13-4) of the component signals. These levels are conducted via threshold circuits (59-1, 59-2, 59-3), in each case having an adjustable threshold value, to a comparator (60) which compares them with one another. The component signal having the highest level (13-3) is switched through to an echo circuit (40) in which this switched-through component signal alone is delayed by an adjustable period of time.
