The invention relates to a device for setting the distance between two eyepieces of an observing instrument. The device contains a housing (2) on which a lens (1) is mounted. Means (3, 10, 12) connected to the housing are used to guide and displace the movable eyepiece (5) parallel to itself. Optical means (17, 19, 20) are provided which are assigned to mechanical means (6, 7) which connect the movable eyepiece (5) to the housing, these optical means transmitting the incident beam (18) from the lens (1) to the movable eyepiece (5). The invention is applied in observing instruments.
