Disclosed are an abnormality handling method, a device and a client, which belong to the field of online application. The method comprises: a virtual management server receiving an abnormality notification sent by a virtual machine that interacts with a first client, the abnormality notification at least carrying a user identification and an application identification; the virtual management server saving the virtual machine data or application data of an application corresponding to the application identification according to a saved abnormality handling manner corresponding to the user identification and the application identification, and releasing the virtual machine resource. The device comprises a receiving module and an abnormality handling module. By means of the present invention, different applications and different users can customize different abnormality handling methods according to different demands, and the client can save the moment when an abnormity occurs or a use status of a user at a moment that is most close to the moment when an abnormity occurs, thereby improving the capacity and efficiency of an online application system.
