PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing lipid in which productivity of fatty acid of a specific carbon number or lipid having the fatty acid as a constituent is improved.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for producing lipid in which a transformant, which is obtained by introducing a gene coding any of the following proteins (a) to (f) into a host, is cultured to produce fatty acid or lipid having the fatty acid as a constituent: (a) protein that consists of an amino acid sequence expressed by sequence number 1; (b) protein that consists of an amino acid sequence having 85% or more of identity with the amino acid sequence of the protein (a), and has β-ketoacyl-ACP synthase activity; (c) protein that consists of an amino acid sequence expressed by sequence number 3; (d) protein that consists of an amino acid sequence having 85% or more of identity with the amino acid sequence of the protein (c), and has β-ketoacyl-ACP synthase activity; (e) protein that consists of an amino acid sequence expressed by sequence number 5; and (f) protein that consists of an amino acid sequence having 85% or more of identity with the amino acid sequence of the protein (e), and has β-ketoacyl-ACP synthase activity.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
