An actuating device for a material excavation device, having a material-receiving apparatus (10, 11) which is open at both ends in order to form a passage through which material can be removed, having a support part (17) which bears a lower plate (15) and, via a pair of joint arms (24), an upper plate (21), on which a collar (22) is mounted on which an upright conical shut-off member (18) is mounted, whose edge rests on a conical wall part (13) of a supply container or silo (14). An air bag (19) lifts the plate (21) and the shut-off member (18) in order to allow removal of material, whereas the four pairs of arms (24) prevent the plate and the shut-off member from tipping during the movement.
