The outlet valve of a container which is under pressure and stores fire extinguishing agent essentially comprises the housing 52, the inner space of which is closed off from that of the container by the diaphragm 49. The latter is supported on the housing side on the plate 53, which at one end is mounted on a shaft and at the other end rests on the roller 54. The latter engages with its two ends in cages 56 which are fastened on an operating shaft 57 which is arranged parallel to the roller 54, controls the latter and, if need be, releases the supporting plate. Upon release of the supporting plate 53, it swivels about its bearing shaft and withdraws its support from the diaphragm, so that the latter ruptures under the pressure acting on it. What is essential here is that great forces which act from the fire extinguisher container on the supporting plate can be initiated by means of comparatively small operating forces by virtue of the rolling friction occurring at 54 (Fig. 4). <IMAGE>
