The invention relates to a radiator as can be used for drying and heating and in which individual radiating elements are assembled in the form of a grid to form a complete heater. It consists of a bent tubular heating element which is provided with a flat enveloping plate. A covering plate is connected to the enveloping plate at a distance. In this way, a uniformly radiating surface is achieved which allows uniform heating. Reflectors are unnecessary and, in addition the radiator can easily be insulated on the rear side. Its production can be automated economically in comparison with ceramic infrared radiators. It is insensitive to fracture stresses and heat stresses and it is possible to fit a thermal element for temperature regulation, without any problems. <IMAGE>
