PURPOSE:To produce an epoxy resin excellent in flexibility, water resistance, anticorrosiveness and adhesion, by reacting a specified 7,8-diphenyltetradecane- 1,14-dicarboxylic acid with a bisphenol-derived epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:1mol of a 7,8-diphenyltetradecane-1,14-dicarboxylic acid of formula I (wherein R is H or methyl and R1 is H or a lower alkyl) is reacted with 1.5-4mol of a bisphenol-derived epoxy resin of formula II (wherein X is H or Br, and n is 0-20) at 80-250 deg.C for several tens of min to several hr in the presence (absence) of a catalyst (e.g., NaOH).
